Millburn-Short Hills Youth Baseball

Thank you for your interest in volunteering to coach for MSHYB. As described on the league website, registering with MSHYB as a coach is one of seven steps that all coaches must complete to be certified to coach in the league. During this registration session, you will be asked to provide contact and other information and review important documents. Please read through each page carefully to ensure that you answer every question and that all information you provide is accurate.

You will be certified to coach for MSHYB during 2023 only after you also have completed the other required steps:

1. having an active membership in the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) Coach Training and Membership Program, with baseball included as a sport
2. completing a concussion awareness training session offered online through NAYS; required annually
3. creating a Babe Ruth League safety membership to track your background check status and child abuse prevention training status (new in 2023); link provided during coaching registration process
4. authorizing Babe Ruth League to perform a mandatory background check through its safety partner, SportsEngine/NCSI; required every two years; if required, link provided after coaching registration through SportsEngine account
5. completing a child abuse prevention training session offered online through SportsEngine/Abuse Prevention Systems; required every two years; if required, link provided after coaching registration through SportsEngine account
6. attending one of MSHYB's coaching certification sessions online via Zoom (dates and other information provided after coaching registration)

Please complete the NAYS membership process and the NAYS concussion awareness training before continuing with this online registration session since you will need to enter your current NAYS membership information and training status. You can renew an existing NAYS membership or create a new one on the NAYS website - www.nays.org. Please see the league website under Coach's Registration for full details and instructions on completing these other steps.
